3D Gun Blueprints Blocked Hours Before They Were Set to Publish

A federal court issued a temporary restraining order blocking a crypto-anarchist from publishing blueprints for functional 3D printed guns. Cody Wilson and his company, Defense Distributed, had reached a settlement with the Justice Department to publish the plans August 1, to the dismay of gun violence prevention advocates.

The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, of which Team Enough is a part, and other advocates attempted to block the settlement, which would have made the blueprints available for download online—and would allow anyone around the world to produce untraceable guns on demand. Brady Campaign leadership hailed the decisionas a crucial victory for gun violence prevention.
