Parkland kids bring 'school project' to San Diego

Thursday night, in the courtyard of a La Jolla Farms home high above Black’s Beach, four Parkland kids, survivors of their schools Valentine’s Day massacre, symbolized the change that’s got to be coming to a country in love with guns like no other but at the same time sick of gun violence like no other.

Headlining the local Brady Campaign fundraiser, the media-road-tested Florida students were remarkable in their normality.

Before the program began, Congressman Scott Peters remarked to a small group that he was amazed at how these singled-out students, whom he’d thought might be “maudlin” or “geeky,” were just regular teenagers who, out of self-defense, embarked on a “school project” to honor their fallen classmates but to also hang with their friends during a historic undertaking.
