Team ENOUGH Virginia: Martin Luther King Jr. Lobby Day

Students from across Virginia spent Martin Luther King Jr. day at Virginia’s state capitol in Richmond, meeting with elected officials to discuss a number of gun violence prevention bills.

In part due to these student advocates, the Virginia Senate passed a slate of life-saving bills! These bills regulate homemade 'ghost guns,' ban deadly assault weapons, and require the safe storage of firearms to prevent access to children under 18.

Remembering Parkland, 5 Years Later: Team ENOUGH Commemoration & Vigil

This week marked five years since the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) High School in Parkland, FL. On Tuesday in Washington, D.C., we partnered with March For Our Lives and Change the Ref to host an event commemorating the lives taken during the Parkland shooting. Together, we honored the lives lost with action by demanding Congress BAN assault weapons and expand Brady Background Checks.

Help Us Ban Deadly Assault Weapons NOW!

On February 1, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) reintroduced the Assault Weapons Ban in the U.S. Senate. This bill would ban the sale, transfer, importation, and possession of new military-style assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.

Team ENOUGH Founding Member Aalayah Eastmond spoke alongside lawmakers at a press conference, sharing her story and urging lawmakers to pass the legislation.

"America has a gun issue... We will no longer accept a future where young people have to fear stepping into a classroom due to the risk of being gunned down by an assault weapon."

During the State of the Union address, President Biden also called on Congress to pass a ban on assault weapons. He drew attention to gun violence in America and cited the importance of taking action in order to prevent mass shootings: In the decade after the assault weapon ban expired in 2004, the U.S. experienced a 183% increase in such massacres and a 239% increase in fatalities.

It’s up to us to help advance legislation to ban these weapons of war, once and for all. Please join us in taking action today!
